Mumbai Indians' Arjun Tendulkar gives away 31 runs in an over, sets unwanted record in IPL during match against Punjab Kings

During the match between Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings, left-arm seamer Arjun Tendulkar had a tough time as he conceded 31 runs in an over.

With this performance, he became the bowler to give away the second-highest number of runs in an over for Mumbai Indians, after Daniel Sams.

Daniel Sams gave away 35 runs in a match against Kolkata Knight Riders in 2022.

The over proved to be a turning point in the match from Arjun as it swung the momentum in Punjab’s favor. Sam Curran, Harpreet, and later Jitesh Sharma capitalized on the opportunity and were able to score 65 runs in the next four overs to take their team’s total to an impressive 214.

Tandulkar’s previous success defending 20 runs in the final over against Hyderabad earlier in the week. He struggled to maintain his line and length during the MIvsPK IPL match. Curran smashed a ball for six and then edged a four past the third man.

As the pressure mounted, Tendulkar missed his line and length, going fuller and paying for it against Harpreet Singh, who hit him for three consecutive boundaries, the last of which was a no-ball. Tendulkar’s slower bouncer also went for four, adding to his misery.

Although Tendulkar had made a difference earlier in the match with a brilliant yorker to break Punjab’s early partnership, his errors made a significant difference for the opposition this time.
