India vs Pakistan, Asia Cup 2022 Super 4 Highlights: A see-saw match that went down to the penultimate ball ended in Pakistan’s favour as they chased down a target of 182.

Pakistan managed to get back at India for the defeat they suffered in the first game at the 2022 Asia Cup.

India vs Pakistan, Asia Cup 2022 Super 4 Highlights: Pakistan managed to pull off an extraordinary chase to get back at India in the second of a possible three matches between the two traditional rivals in the 2022 Asia Cup. Virat Kohli’s 60 off 44 balls and two misfields in the end from Fakhar Zaman took India to 181/7. Pakistan were firmly on the backfoot for much of the first half of their chase, with India dismissing captain Babar Azam and Fakhar before they could do too much damage. However, Mohammad Nawaz and Mohammad Rizwan changed the course of the game with a 73-run partnership in just 41 balls. Asif Ali then almost took Pakistan home after Arshdeep Singh dropped a dolly off him. However, Arshdeep dismissed him with just two balls to spare and with Pakistan still need two runs to win. Pakistan then ran hard and took two runs off the next ball to win the match by five wickets.

India vs Pakistan Live: Mohammad Nawaz wins player of the match

“For a left arm spinner, it’s important to stick to the basic line and length. If one or two balls turn, that puts doubt into the batters’ minds. After that, I try and stick to line and length. We needed 10 runs per over when I walked in to bat so I knew I had to attack every chance I got. My mind was clear that I’d hit out at every ball in my zone. I didn’t try and overplay, which you sometimes can when you’re under pressure.”

IND vs PAK, Asia Cup Live: Rohit Sharma on Kohli

The form is brilliant (talking about Kohli). Needed someone to bat long when the others were getting out. He batted with that tempo as well. Virat getting that score was crucial from the team’s point of view. Wickets of Hardik and Rishabh was not needed at that time. But we want to play with an open mindset. While taking that approach you’ll not always have success.

India vs Pakistan, Asia Cup Live: Rohit Sharma on India’s younger players

“It’s a high pressure game and you have to be at it every time. A game like that can take a lot out of you, but we were quite calm at the backend, even in the middle when Rizwan and Nawaz had a partnership going. But it went too long and they batted brilliantly.

“Games like this can bring the best out of players. There will be times when they will be challenged and things might not go their way. There’s potential in the players and they’ve done it in the past. There’s class in the opposition team as well.”

Asia Cup Live: Rizwan the colossus

IND vs PAK Live: Rizwan talks

“The whole world is watching this match. This game is as valuable as a final. Every player will try to go give his 100%. The plan, as always, was to score against the new ball with one of us (himself and Babar Azam) batting long. I tried to stay till the end. We know our strengths, we have depth in our batting, we have power-hitters who are capable of hitting around 45 runs off the last four overs. So we didn’t panic.”

IND vs PAK, Asia Cup Live: PAKISTAN BEAT INDIA BY 5 WICKETS

The thriller ends in Pakistan’s favour. Arshdeep misses his yorker, Iftikhar Ahmed hits it down the ground and the two batters run for their lives. They make it to the crease as Arshdeep knocks off the bails at the non-striker’s end in frustration, sparking wild celebrations in the Pakistan dressing room and in the stands. What an extraordinary run chase this was. We had mentioned around the 12th over mark that getting back in this game would take an extraordinary effort from the Pakistanis. They have only done that and more. Mohammad Rizwan the protagonist of the chase, Mohammad Nawaz was the side kick and Asif Ali played an all-important cameo. Pakistan have won this game with just one ball to spare.

India vs Pakistan, Asia Cup Live: OUT! A late twist?

Asif Ali falls to Arshdeep Singh! Some level of redemption for the young pacer, this match is not for the faint of heart. Pakistan need two to win off two balls. Arshdeep had managed to get a dot ball after that previous boundary. Sensational stuff!

    • Sep 04, 2022 11:18 PM IST

India vs Pakistan Live: FOUR! Asif Ali down the ground

Pakistan need two to win off four. Picked up the attempted yorker that becomes a low full toss over the bowler’s head to the boundary. Rizwan jumping up and down in the balcony. What a chase this is!

    • Sep 04, 2022 11:14 PM IST

Asia Cup Live: FOUR! 19 runs in the 19th over!

Pakistan need just 7 to win in the last over. Arshdeep Singh bowling it. Chance for him to redeem himself and much more if he defends this with one of the two batters in the middle there being one of the best finishers in the world. India have an extra fielder in the circle because of the over rate as well. Pakistan are firm favourites.

    • Sep 04, 2022 11:13 PM IST

India vs Pakistan Live: FOUR! Khushdil Shah now

It is that stage of the game where the equation can shift wildly from one way to another in just two deliveries. Khushdil pulls a short one from Bhuvi and Pakistan now need just 12 off 8! Pakistan’s game to lose.

    • Sep 04, 2022 11:10 PM IST

Asia Cup Live: SIX! ASIF ALI!

Oh a shot to remember. He just picks Bhuvneshwar up back over his head and into the stands behind the bowler. Pakistan need 18 to win in 10 balls!

IND vs PAK Live: DROPPED! Arshdeep drops a dolly!

That is extraordinary. Rohit Sharma gives Arshdeep an earful after that. Asif Ali goes for a slog sweep, ends up getting a top edge and it nicely floats to Arshdeep at short third. An easy catch, and Arshdeep seemed to take it as that, and he ended up dropping it and looking quite silly. He throws the ball back, has a slight smile on his face, which makes Wasim Akram say he shouldn’t have that on him either.

IND vs PAK, Asia Cup Live: Into the last 3 overs

Right then, we have another India-Pakistan thriller in our hands. For 15 years there were one-sided matches between these two sides and now we have got too nail-biters back to back. Ravi Bishnoi comes in to bowl the 18th. Pakistan need 34 to win from 18, they have the dangerous Asif Ali at the non-striker’s end and Khushdil Shah is on strike.

India vs Pakistan, Asia Cup Live: GONE! IT’S RIZWAN!

Well, well, well, Hardik Pandya was luckless just a few minutes ago and he has now got the big wicket of Mohammad Rizwan, has the game completely turned in India’s favour now? Slow one from Pandya, Rizwan can’t get the distance despite getting off the middle of the bat. He holes out at long-on and a brilliant innings comes to an end.

India vs Pakistan Live: GONE! Is that the turning point?

Bhuvneshwar Kumar delivers and Mohammad Nawaz goes after smashing 42 in 20 balls. Partnership between him and Rizwan ends at 73 off just 41 balls. Sort of a length, Nawaz looks to go down the ground. The ball was in the air for a while and Hooda does well to keep his eyes in it all the way.

      Nawaz c Hooda b Kumar 42 (20), Pakistan 136/3 in 15.3 overs

Partnership of 72 off 38 balls between Rizwan and Nawaz. Nawaz is on 42 off just 18 and Rizwan has made 60 in 44. India firmly on the backfoot now and desperately need a wicket here.

IND vs PAK Live: FOUR! Rizwan goes after Chahal now

Length delivery outside off, lots and lots of room for Rizwan to rock back and cut it through backward point. What a fight back this has been from these two.

IND vs PAK, Asia Cup Live: FOUR AGAIN!

Tossed up delivery down the leg side now, Nawaz sweeps it to the fine leg boundary. Make that 55 need to win off 34 now, that gap is closing quite quickly now.

India vs Pakistan Live: FOUR! No luck for Pandya today

Short from Pandya, Nawaz goes for a pull but only gets a top edge. Lucky for him that it flies over the keeper for a four right behind him. All going Pakistan’s way at the moment and Rohit has a lot to think about now.

    • Sep 04, 2022 10:34 PM IST

Asia Cup Live: FOUR! Nawaz timing them to perfection!

Pandya goes full outside off, Nawaz hits over cover for four. He is on 28 off 12 balls and these two are dragging Pakistan back into this match.

IND vs PAK Live: 50 for Rizwan!

He is hurting from the knock on his knee that he sustained earlier while keeping but he has managed to reach a half century in 37 balls. This is quite a colossal effort from Rizwan and he is slowly getting Pakistan back into this chase alongwith Mohammad Nawaz.

    • Sep 04, 2022 10:23 PM IST

India vs Pakistan, Asia Cup Live: SIX! Nawaz doing his job

He has been brought on to go after the spinners and that is what he is doing at the moment. Lifts Bishnoi over deep mid-wicket for his second six. Partnership is now up to 31 off 17 and this will start worrying India now.

    • Sep 04, 2022 10:19 PM IST

India vs Pakistan Live: SIX! Rizwan first ball after drinks!

That was a poor delivery from Chahal. Not the kind of delivery that entices batters, just a poor one. Nice juicy full toss for Rizwan to feed on and he whips out one of signature pick up shots for his second maximum.

    • Sep 04, 2022 10:18 PM IST

Asia Cup Live: Drinks break, Pakistan 76/2 in 10 overs

India were 93/3. They stay one wicket and about 20 runs ahead of Pakistan in this chase. Pakistan have their hopes firmly pinned on Rizwan and it is safe to say that we have already come to a point where we can say that this will become a real thriller if Pakistan can get close from this point.

    • Sep 04, 2022 10:13 PM IST

      IND vs PAK Live: SIX!

Nawaz promoted up the order and delivering for now. He started off with a four off Chahal and now smacks a six off Pandya. Pakistan need much more of this.

IND vs PAK, Asia Cup Live: OUT! Chahal delivers!

OUT! Chahal delivers, Fakhar Zaman goes for an 18-ball 15! Fakhar is a dangerous customer but he has been completely nullified by India here. Chahal laid a trap and Fakhar bit. Slow delivery that Fakhar tries to hit straight down the ground. He ends up putting into the hands of Kohli at long-on.

      Fakhar Zaman c Kohli b Chahal 15 (18)Pakistan 63/2 in 8.4 overs

    • Sep 04, 2022 10:00 PM IST

India vs Pakistan, Asia Cup Live: FOUR! 50 up for Pakistan!

Gets to the pitch of the ball with some good footwork, does Rizwan, and hits it through mid-off. Kohli intercepts at the boundary but the ball rolls from underneath him and touches the boundary. He should have stopped that one.

India vs Pakistan Live: End of powerplay, Pakistan 44/1

India at this stage were 62/2. They are clearly ahead at the moment and will be prioritising wickets. Pakistan have some truly dangerous batters yet to come apart from the ones they have in the middle now. Yuzvendra Chahal comes in.

    • Sep 04, 2022 09:55 PM IST

Asia Cup Live: SIX! What a shot from Rizwan!

The indomitable Mohammad Rizwan gets down on one knee and picks it up over square leg for a brilliant six. This is some shot from the Pakistan wicketkeeper.

IND vs PAK Live: FOUR! First runs for Fakhar Zaman

Saw that third man was up and went for the slash off Pandya through backward point for his first boundary. That is also his first runs, after facing four dot balls.

IND vs PAK, Asia Cup Live: OUT! THAT’S THAT FOR BABAR!

Babar had tried to jab it through the midwicket but hit straight to Rohit Sharma standing there. He was looking good, the Pakistan captain, but no big score from today as well.

Babar Azam c Rohit Sharma b Ravi Bishnoi 14 (10), Pakistan 22/1 in 3.4 overs

    • Sep 04, 2022 09:44 PM IST

India vs Pakistan, Asia Cup Live: Is it the end for Babar?

Babar has hit it straight to midwicket and Bishnoi seems to have got the biggest Pakistan wicket in his first over. The Indians celebrate but then the umpire asks Babar to stop as Bishnoi’s front foot gets checked. It took a few seconds but then the umpire does ask him to walk along!

    • Sep 04, 2022 09:40 PM IST

India vs Pakistan Live: FOUR! Babar yet again, PAK 19/0 in 3 overs

Short from Bhuvi, not too much pace on it, Babar smashes it in front of square for his second four. Rohit brings in Bishnoi for the third over.

    • Sep 04, 2022 09:34 PM IST

IND vs PAK Live: Pakistan 9/0 in 1st over

India had scored 11 in the first over. Rizwan does have a dodgy knee remember, wonder how long he will be able to go with it. It is quite extraordinary that he is out there in the first place.

    • Sep 04, 2022 09:31 PM IST

IND vs PAK, Asia Cup Live: FOUR! Beauty from Babar

Bhuvneshwar goes down the leg side, Babar whips it past midwicket for his first four. We haven’t really seen the best of Babar Azam in this tournament and how India would be hoping he would not let lose in this match. There were a couple of play-and-misses in the two balls before this shot.

    • Sep 04, 2022 09:28 PM IST

India vs Pakistan, Asia Cup Live: FOUR! Rizwan starts off in style

Off the first ball itself. Short and wide from Bhuvneshwar and Rizwan cuts it past point for four. That’s a nice way to start a 182-run chase.

    • Sep 04, 2022 09:24 PM IST

India vs Pakistan Live: The misfields

Rauf’s attempted yorker had become a low full toss and Bishnoi went for a slice past point. Fakhar charged in from the deep but the ball spinner past him and went for four. The sixth delivery was almost an action replay, except this time Bishnoi couldn’t keep it down. Fakhar came in again for a catch, overruns and had to hop. He ends up palming it for a four.

Asia Cup Live: Shadab Khan talks

“We made a good comeback after a quick start and we did well in the middle overs as well. I try to keep things simple, which is the toughest thing in cricket. Earlier, I had complicated it, which resulted an injury as well. The last two boundaries can definitely hurt but we will be aiming for a good start to the chase. The pitch is a lot better, the ball is coming on to the bat nicely.”
