Nearly a month after heavy scrutiny and arrest by India’s Narcotics Control authority for her alleged role in a drugs case related to Sushant Singh Rajput, Rhea Chakraborty has been granted bail on a bond of Rs 1 lac.
Rhea Chakraborty “is not part of a chain of drug dealers” and “has not forwarded the drugs allegedly procured by her to somebody else, to earn monetary other benefits,” the High Court said.
“Since she has no criminal antecedents, there are reasonable grounds for believing that she is not likely to commit any offence while on bail,” the judge added.
Following, a forensic audit of Rajput’s bank account revealed nothing suspicious to suggest that Rhea pushed the Dil Bechara actor towards suicide for financial gain, an agency source confirmed to The Indian Express.
Chakraborty’s advocate Satish Maneshinde took this opportunity to reckon how delighted they were by the decision put forth, revealing their distaste towards the unwarranted arrest.
“The arrest and custody of Rhea was totally unwarranted and beyond the reach of law. The hounding and witch hunt by three central agencies, the CBI, ED and NCB should come to an end. We remain committed to truth,” he added in his statement.
Prominent names from the industry stood up for the Jalebi actor, demanding an apology from the media for the vilification and torment they collectively subjected her to.
On the forefront was Farhan Akhtar, calling “shrill anchors” out “for the hell they put Rhea Chakraborty and her family through.”
