Zaman Khan Joins Derbyshire for Vitality Blast: Pakistan's Rising Fast Bowler Set for English Cricket

Derbyshire has made an exciting acquisition by signing Pakistan’s emerging fast bowler, Zaman Khan, for the upcoming Vitality Blast competition. The club officially confirmed the news on its website.

Zaman Khan will join forces with Pakistan’s Team Director, Mickey Arthur, at Derbyshire, who expressed eagerness in welcoming him to the team. Arthur stated on the club’s website, “Zaman Khan is one of the brightest young fast bowlers in Pakistan, and he brings valuable experience of T20 success from around the world to our dressing room. This will undoubtedly contribute to our pursuit of our own goals.”

This development further solidifies Zaman’s rapid ascent in the cricketing world. At just 21 years old, he has already made a name for himself in the Pakistan Super League, triumphing in consecutive years in 2022 and 2023. Additionally, he recently clinched victory in the Lanka Premier League with the Jaffna Kings earlier this year.

His remarkable performances in the PSL earned him a call-up to the national team for a match against Afghanistan, and he has since become a seasoned player with 49 T20 appearances. Zaman aims to enhance his tally of 59 wickets during the English season, aspiring to become a regular member of the national team.

Expressing his excitement about joining the club, Zaman stated, “Playing in England is something I’ve always desired, and to have the opportunity to work with Mickey Arthur at Derbyshire is truly a dream scenario.”

In the Derbyshire dressing room, Zaman will find a familiar face in Haider Ali. Furthermore, Pakistan will be well-represented in the Vitality Blast with the participation of Hassan Ali, Shadab Khan, Zafar Gohar, Shan Masood, and Shaheen Afridi.

Derbyshire will commence their campaign on May 20th with a match against Lancashire, as they aim to make their mark in the tournament.
