KKR Captain Nitish Rana Reprimanded for Breaching IPL Code of Conduct, Fined Rs. 24 Lakh

Nitish Rana, captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), was reprimanded for violating the Indian Premier League’s (IPL) Code of Conduct during their recent match against MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

KKR secured a memorable victory over the four-time champions in match No.61 of the IPL 2023 at the Chepauk, with Rana leading from the front and smashing a rapid half-century. Partnering with in-form Rinku Singh, Rana guided KKR to a six-wicket win over CSK

However, Rana was penalized for maintaining a slow over-rate during the match, resulting in a fine of Rs. 24 lakh. The Playing XI, including the impact substitute, were also fined Rs. 6 lakh or 25 percent of the match fee, whichever was lesser, as it was KKR’s second offense of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offenses, according to the IPL.

In the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain Nitish Rana was fined for violating the league’s Code of Conduct after he was involved in an altercation with Mumbai Indians’ (MI) Hrithik Shokeen. Rana accepted the Level 1 Offense and was fined 25% of his match fee for his actions.

In KKR’s recent match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Chepauk, Rana led from the front and scored an unbeaten 57 runs, while Rinku Singh played a crucial knock of 54 off 43 balls to help KKR secure a much-needed victory.

After the match, Rana credited coach Chandrakant Pandit for insisting on the use of the heavy roller before the match, despite Rana’s initial hesitation, and for the team’s success in all three departments. Additionally, Rana was reprimanded by the IPL for maintaining a slow over-rate during the match, resulting in a fine of Rs. 24 lakh for Rana and Rs. 6 lakh for each member of the playing XI, including the impact substitute.
