Pakistan’s star fast bowler, Shaheen Shah Afridi, has been named in the ODI squads for the upcoming series against New Zealand, marking his return to international cricket after a four-month absence due to a knee injury.
The series is scheduled to take place from mid-April to early May across three venues in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Karachi.

Shaheen missed several matches, including five Tests and three ODIs against England and New Zealand, following the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022, but made a remarkable comeback in the HBL Pakistan Super League 8.
Shaheen’s performance for the Lahore Qalandars helped the team to defend their title and was named the captain of the team of the tournament. Along with Afridi, other notable players making a return to the squad include Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, and Mohammad Rizwan, who were rested during last month’s T20I series against Afghanistan.
The T20I squad also features three young talents, Ihsanullah, Saim Ayub, and Zaman Khan, who impressed selectors with their performances during the Sharjah series.
The squad will assemble in Lahore on April 6 for training camp before the start of the series.
